Customer Rating: Summary: Very Pleased Comment: I was very pleased with my purchase - the price was good, the shipping well-protected, and It was in great condition. Instructions are clear to follow and it is very useful.
Customer Rating: Summary: Functional and Good Value for the Price... Comment: I bought this recorder to create some podcasts of my classes (high school). The idea is to have the students record certain group projects and then use the audio to create "quick and dirty" podcasts - nothing fancy. The sound quality is pretty low, even on "HQ", but, for the price, I really can't complain. It sounds like a very old-school tape recorder in a lot of ways. I'm not even going to talk about the camera as a functioning part of the piece because it's a piece of crap (your cell phone will do much better). But the recorder is easy to use, with working through the menu being easy enough for a bunch of 14-year-olds to figure out. If you're looking for something quick, simple, and cheap and the sound quality isn't an issue as long as it's audible, then the Olympus W-10 is your best bet.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good Recorder, Pathetic Camera Comment: I wasn't hoping for much from the camera, and it's a good thing. Not only is the picture quality lousy, the alignment between viewfinder and lens is iffy enough that you need to leave some room around the image to make sure you get everything you want. That having been said, it's fine as a voice recorder--as my two other Olympus recorders have been--and at a good price. And having a lousy camera is arguably better than none at all. I'm a little concerned about the analog volume control wheel, since I'm sure that's what broke on my first Olympus recorder, but I like the controls better than my old VN3100 that I just gave to my son.
Customer Rating: Summary: What A Gizmo Comment: What a gizmo! It records, it takes pictures, it does other things! It is, in all gizmostity, quite the gadget.
All seriousness aside, a slender voice recorder is a handy tool to have, especially if you find yourself needing to collect information in a hurry. I use mine for accident and crime scene investigation. I can collect details in a hurry which frees me up for more intuitive, first impression stuff. Useful to me is the sync between pictures and sound. I can take a picture and then comment on the details. (And of course, so can you.)
I still carry my camera. The picture detail in the Olympus is pretty good but if detail is important, I go for the Canon.
That it cost less the $40 with tax and shipping makes it a bargain.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sweet deal for a nifty recorder. Comment: Works like a charm. Haven't tried the camera, but really didn't buy it for that function. This baby is ultra sensitive and picks up everything- including background noise I'd rather it didn't! Don't use it in a room where there is traffic outside or you will be able to count every vehicle that went by. You'll still be able to hear speaking in a room clearly though so all in all- great recorder at a great price!

The W-10 doesn't just make it easy to record; it makes it easy to manage your audio and image files as well. With two folders devoted to your audio files, each capable of storing up to 100 messages apiece, and a dedicated folder for image files that can hold up to 250 pictures, organizing and locating those important files is simple. You can even move files between folders, or erase a single file or entire folder.
